Live portrait artist at the Monaco Grand Prix
For three days during the Monaco Grand Prix 2026, Viktor worked as a live portraitist in one of the event’s venues, creating personalised watercolour paintings for guests to take home as a souvenir of the race weekend.
A Custom Souvenir for Every Guest
The brief was clear: each guest should leave with a small, personal artwork they could keep. Viktor prepared a consistent background in advance — the iconic Hôtel de Paris facade, instantly recognisable to anyone who has experienced Monaco during race week — and completed each painting on the spot by adding the guest’s likeness and an F1 car in their favourite team’s colours.
A McLaren fan received an orange car. A Ferrari supporter got a red one. Each detail was adapted in real time, making every painting unique despite the high volume of guests across the three days.
Watercolour at Speed — Viktor’s Approach
Working from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th June, approximately eight hours a day, Viktor produced live watercolour portraits in a format guests could easily carry and store. The A5 size was chosen deliberately — compact enough to travel with, significant enough to display.
The technique combines Viktor’s background in live aquarelle painting with his experience as a live caricaturist — two disciplines that allow him to capture a likeness quickly without sacrificing expressiveness. The result is a painting that reads immediately as a portrait while remaining loose, lively and event-appropriate.
Live Art as Guest Experience
With up to 200 guests per day in the venue, not every attendee requested a portrait — but the presence of a live artist working at pace created an atmosphere in itself. Guests gathered to watch, compare their results, and leave with something tangible from an event that is otherwise entirely experiential.
This format — pre-composed background, personalised foreground, rapid execution — is adaptable to any major sporting or luxury event where guest flow is high and dwell time is limited.
